Travel in the Barranquilla Carnival, the most important event in Colombia, more than a million among comparsas and visitors who celebrate with traditional songs and dances in the streets of these spectacular city that disguises itself for the joy of its citizens and visitors.

We started the Barranquilla Carnival Tour 11 Days from Bogotá and its beauties of the colonial era with two excursions to the Laguna De Guatavita, where the legend of El Dorado and Zipaquirá was born, where the Catedral De Sal is located, a suggestive cathedral built in a salt mine.

Then relax on the wonderful beaches of Santa Marta by reaching Barranquilla just in time for the spectacular Batalla De Los Flores, where the Marimonda, the Garabato, the Congo and the Monocuco invade the streets of the city filling it with joy. Finally Cartagena, with its charming Walled City.

1° DAY / Bogotá:

Arrival at El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá in the afternoon, where our assistants will be waiting for us. after the airport formality, we headed abroad for the transfer in private and comfortable vehicles to the La Candelaria sector (duration 20 minutes approx.), at the San Francisco De Asís hotel a short distance from the historic center, always very crowded until late at night with a selection of restaurants and nightclubs where you can dine (free not included) or relax in one of the many typical restaurants in the city, and then return to the hotel.

2° DAY / Bogotá - Zipaquirá - Bogotá:

fter breakfast, we head north of Bogotá to reach Zipaquirá, a small town (duration 1 hour approx.), To reach the Catedral De Sal, a cathedral built inside a salt mine, considered one of the works most important artistic and architectural structures in Colombia. The salt and marble sculptures create a unique atmosphere that attracts many tourists and religious. At the exit we refresh ourselves in the kiosks of the panoramic terrace and return to Bogotá (duration 1 hour approx.), Lunch (free not included) in one of the typical restaurants on the way back, to arrive in Bogotá early in the afternoon and have the time to visit Monserrate accessible by cable car or funicular where we can have dinner (free not included), enjoying the sunset and the panoramic view.

3° DAY / Bogotá - Laguna De Guatavita - Bogotá:

After breakfast, we headed back to the north of Bogotá, but this time to get to Guatavita (duration 1 hour and 30 minutes approx.), We hardly left the city, after a few kilometers we reached the starting point for a little trekking to the Laguna De Guatavita. (duration 40 minutes approx), where the legend of El Dorado began, lunch (free not included) in one of the typical restaurants on the way back, to arrive in Bogotá in the afternoon, but this time to visit the Museo Del Oro , the Botero Museum and the adjacent De La Moneda Museum, dinner (free not included) in one of the many typical restaurants in the Old Town.

4° DAY / Bogotá - Santa Marta:

Early in the morning, we go to the El Dorado national airport in Bogotá (duration 20 minutes approx.), To take the flight Bogotá-Santa Marta (duration 1 hour approx.), When we arrive at the airport we meet our assistants, we go outside the airport where our vans will be waiting for us for the transfer to Santa Marta (duration 20 minutes approx.), we will arrive at lunch time, we will settle in the Nueva Granada hotel, in the center of the city, near the promenade where we can have lunch (free not included), in one of the many restaurants based on meat or fish. In the afternoon, we can freely go to the city, always very crowded, but never chaotic, to go shopping and visit the Basilica Cathedral and the Customs House, regional headquarters of the Museo Del Oro Tayrona. At night we go out to participate in the nightlife of Santa Marta, we have many options to choose from in terms of restaurants, thematic places where to dine (free not included) and at the end nightclubs where to end the night.

5° DAY / Santa Marta:

After breakfast, we go a few kilometers from Santa Marta to go to Playa El Rodadero (duration 15 minutes approx.), Where we can spend the whole day on the beach or choose a Full-Day (not included) to visit Playa Blanca. Lunch (free not included) in a small restaurant on the beach to return to Santa Marta at the end of the afternoon at the hotel. At night we go out to the streets of the center again, the pleasantly mild climate accompanied by the breeze from the Sierra Nevada makes the nights outdoors even more magical. I return to the hotel late at night.

6° DAY / Santa Marta - Barranquilla:

After breakfast, our vans will be waiting for us for the transfer to Barranquilla (duration 2 hours and 30 minutes approx.) At the Howard Johnson hotel. We arrived late in the morning, time to settle in the rooms and immerse ourselves in the most important event in Colombia, the second largest carnival in Latin America, where more than a million people participate in groups and visitors. Immediately we will be transported by the joy of this wonderful carnival with the most traditional costumes that are the Marimonda, the Garabato, the Congo and the Monocuco, and also the most famous masks such as the Bull, the Litanies and the Verbenas. Lunch (free not included), in one of the many typical restaurants in the streets of the city and in the afternoon, if we feel like it, we immerse ourselves in the carnival again to return to the hotel in the afternoon. We go out at night, we cannot miss a visit to La Troja, Barranquilla’s Cultural and Musical Heritage, a place of worship in the city where Caribbean music and rhythms continue without interruption until dawn. I return to the Howard Johnson Hotel late at night.

7° DAY / Barranquilla:

After breakfast, we left for a City-Tour to visit the Gran Malecón, the Window to the World, the El Prado neighborhood and the Avenida del Río. The spirit of carnival invades the city, as we move through the streets, it will not be difficult to notice that even the houses have carnival decorations that also participate in a final awards ceremony. At the end of the City-Tour, we have lunch and dinner (not included) in the streets of the center, while we freely participate in the carnival activities that take place throughout the city. I return to the hotel late at night.

8° DAY / Barranquilla:

After breakfast, we left for another City-Tour, this time to visit the Casa del Carnaval, a building from the colonial era located in Barrio Abajo, one of the most characteristic areas of Barranquilla, where we can find artisans and typical gastronomies of the town. At the end, we visit the Historic Center where we can appreciate several churches and buildings dating from the colonial era, such as the Church of San Nicolás and the Church of San Roque. At the end, we have lunch (free not included) in the streets of the center and in the afternoon we participate again in the carnival activities in progress throughout the city, to return to the hotel in the afternoon. At night we go out to dinner (free not included), in one of the typical restaurants of the city to continue the night in a place in the center where there will surely be music, Caribbean dances and carnival spirit until late at night.

9° DAY / Barranquilla - Cartagena:

Early in the morning, after breakfast, our vans will be waiting for us for the transfer to Cartagena De Indias (duration 3 hours and 30 minutes approx.), We will arrive at the heart of the city just before lunch, at Getsemani, in La Casona De Getsemani, A few steps from the Walled City, a fortification built during the colonial era due to the continuous looting of pirates. Just the moment to sit in the rooms and we can immerse ourselves in the streets of this wonderful city of great historical importance with many buildings, symbol of colonial architecture, there are many things to visit and a guide is recommended to fully enjoy the beauty of each corner. Let’s immediately start the Castle of San Felipe De Barajas that is outside the Getsemani on the way back, we have lunch (free not included), to go out again to visit the Clock Tower, The Churches of San Pedro Claver and the Palacio De La Inquisition and return to the hotel in the afternoon. We go out at night for dinner (free not included), to end the night in one of the many squares that offer live music with restaurants, nightclubs and typical places, to return to the hotel late at night.

10° DAY / Cartagena:

After breakfast, we can choose whether to freely walk around the city visiting the Bazurto Market, El Portal De Los Dulces and the Museo Del Cacao or participate in a Full-Day on Barú Island (free not included), spending the rest of the day in the beach with lunch (free not included) based on fresh fish. Return to Cartagena in the afternoon in time to walk to the city walls to enjoy the sunset and return to the hotel in the evening. Dinner (free not included), in one of the many restaurants in Getsemani, concluding the night in some of the local attractions of the Walled City, to return to the hotel late at night.

11° DAY / Cartagena - Bogotá:

After breakfast, we go to the Rafael Núñez de Cartagena national airport to take the Cartagena-Bogotá flight (duration 1 hour and 30 minutes approx.), Where our assistants wait for us for the departure of the international flight that will take us back.
