Lost City Trekking Tour 9 Days

Arrival at El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá in the afternoon, where our assistants will be waiting for us. after the airport formality, we headed abroad for the transfer in private and comfortable vehicles to the La Candelaria sector (duration 20 minutes approx.), at the San Francisco De Asís hotel a short distance from the historic center, always very crowded until late at night with a selection of restaurants and nightclubs where you can dine (free not included) or relax in one of the many typical restaurants in the city, and then return to the hotel.

Early in the morning, we go to the El Dorado national airport in Bogotá (duration 20 minutes approx.), To take the flight Bogotá-Santa Marta (duration 1 hour approx.), We arrive at the airport to meet our assistants, we pass through Santa Marta to register the trekking and we continue with a 4×4 Jeep since a third of the route is not paved, to reach El Mamey or Machete Pelao (duration 2 hours approx.), Where the trekking to the Lost City will begin, while we have lunch , we meet our guide, and we set out to get to Cabaña Alfredo in the late afternoon, while we wait for dinner, we settle in and we can decide whether to sleep in a hammock or in bunk beds.

We wake up at the first light of dawn, while the guides will prepare breakfast for us. immediately after, we begin the trekking, finding the indigenous Kogui who walk the trails barefoot with their traditional clothes will be more and more frequent, we will arrive at the Wiwa Cabin where we can rest, take a refreshing bath in the Buritaca river or visit the Wiwa Community no far away, while the guides prepare lunch, after lunch we resume the trekking to arrive in the afternoon at Cabaña El Mumake, where we will have dinner and spend the night.

We will always wake up at the first light of dawn, the jungle and the guides who prepare breakfast will gently wake us up. After a good breakfast, we resume the trekking, the crossing of the rivers will be more and more frequent, full of episodes that will remain in our memories, such as the vegetation that will become more and more dense that surrounds us when passing through the trails, we will arrive to the Cabaña Paraíso Teyuna around lunchtime, which will be served as soon as our guides have prepared it, in the afternoon we can relax by the Buritaca River or take a refreshing bath, after our relaxing afternoon on the riverbank, we return to Cabaña Paraíso Teyuna for dinner and overnight.

Early in the morning, but only after breakfast, we resume the trekking, but this time to reach our destination, we walk for fifteen minutes along the bank of the Buritaca River to the ford and from there the path will take us to the 1200 steps that we lead to Ciudad Perdida that the Arhuaco, Koguis and Wiwa Indians called Teyuna and believe that it was the center of a network of villages inhabited by their ancestors the Tayrona Indigenous. After a well-deserved rest admiring the landscape of the Lost City, we descend to Cabaña Paraíso Teyuna for lunch and continue the descent in the afternoon to Cabaña El Mumake for dinner and overnight.

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we resume the trekking, the descents prevail over the ascents, that is why we travel more kilometers, to return to El Mamey, arriving at noon to have lunch (included), where our 4×4 truck to take us to El Zaino, entrance to Tayrona Park (duration 2 hours approx.), from there, a park van will take us to the Ecohotel Yachay Tayrona (duration 5 minutes approx.), A wonderful structure with all the comforts in pure caribbean style. With a spectacular view of the park, we settle into our rooms and finally we can relax waiting for dinner immersed in the green of Tayrona Park.

To El Mamey

After breakfast, we go with the park vans in Cañaveral (duration 15 minutes approx.), And from there we walk through the park trails and arrive at Playa Arrecifes, but we can reach Cabo San Juan de la Guía through Playa La Gaviota, Playa La Arenilla and Playa La Piscina, we have lunch (not included) in a restaurant on the beach with fresh fish menus. In the afternoon, if we feel like it, we can do a trekking to Chayrama, an ancient community of Tayrona Indians, now known as Pueblito (duration 1 hour and 30 minutes approx.), Which was a meeting point for artisans, farmers and fishermen, that in the small squares, they exchanged their goods to obtain public, civil and ceremonial services. In the afternoon we return to the Ecohotel Yachay Tayrona for dinner (free not included) and spend the rest of the afternoon.

After breakfast, we leave the Ecohotel Yachay Tayrona, load our luggage and with the park vans we go to El Zaino (duration 5 minutes approx.), At the entrance of Tayrona Park, where other vans will be waiting for us that will take us to Santa Marta (duration 1 hour approx.), We will arrive at lunch time, we will settle in the Nueva Granada hotel, in the center of the city, a comfortable structure, with a pool in pure colonial style, near the promenade where we can have lunch (not included), in one of the many restaurants based on meat or fish. In the afternoon, we can freely go to the city, always very busy, but never chaotic, to go shopping and visit the Basilica Cathedral and Casa De La Aduana, regional headquarters of the Tayrona Gold Museum. At night we go out to participate in the nightlife of Santa Marta, we have many options to choose from in terms of restaurants, theme bars where you can dine (not included) and nightclubs where you can end the night. If we wish, we can return to the hotel to return to the hotel late at night.
